[Windows 10 home to pro product key not working free

I bought a new Asus laptop and it came with Windows 10 Home. I want pro for Bitlocker and the remote desktop.

Since then it’s been a nightmare trying to get this done and a huge amount of time lost for me. I thought things were going to be all better and marvelous with Windows 10, but it’s been nothing but frustration.

I talked to MS on the phone, went to the Microsoft store in person with it multiple trips , talked to Asus. Nothing works. MS generated a new product key for me, and putting that in doesn’t work tried two different places in Settings where it allows you to enter a new product key. Took it back to the MS store for that, and then told me that if they do it that way it will wipe out all of the data and apps that I just spent a week re-installing.

I thought the Pro code is built into Win 10 already, and it just takes a product key or license to “Unlock” it? So why have to reinstall the OS and reimage my whole machine? Very frustrated with Microsoft and Win10, maybe I should have listened to others and went with the Macbook.
